Omega was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt at the age of 23.

By the turn of the 19th century Omega was one of Switzerland’s largest watch makers.

Omega made its debut in sports during the Gordon Bennett international ballooning Cup in 1917

In 1957, with motorsport in mind, Omega launched the Speedmaster, which in 1965 was chosen by NASA as its official chronometer in Space. Four years later the Moonwatch was the first Automatic manual watch to be worn on the Moon, when on 21st July 1969 Neil Armstrong made his giant leap

The Omega Speedmaster Professional Mark III was introduced in 1971 and produced for only 2 years. The cal. 1040 is the first Omega automatic Chronograph calibre. It was developed by Raoul-Henri Erad and produced by Lemania.

We are presenting a magnificent 1973 Omega Speedmaster Professional Mark III Volcano ref. ST 176.002. The astonishing champagne colour dial with its large centre chronoghraph seconds and minute hands, the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, continues small seconds hand and 24-hour indicator at 9 o’clock, really make this time-piece feel that is out of this world.

It is an absolutely masterpiece and certainly magnetises people.

It featured an automatic chronograph movement for the first time in a Speedmaster. The movement is an Omega automatic movement cal. 1040.
