1889-1900 Louis Vuitton steamer trunk 4+22
A stunning vintage fitted steamer trunk with three felt-lined lift-out drawer compartments with removable sectional fittings. The wooden case with dark brown leather covered in the printed gold "LV" monogram outside and orange and rust felt interior compartments with fabric handles. Marked inside with a paper Louis Vuitton label with serial number 176322 and stamped on the right with tooled monogrammed leather strapped trim and stamped brass hardware. There are assorted applied travel label fragments to the exterior reading, "Ellinis", Pacific Line". We can assume that it travelled to Australia in the late 60's as the Boat "Ellinis" did not make its first voyager to Australia till 1963.
This masterpiece dates back to late 1800's and early 1900's. It is in excellent condition and all original. From the label we can assume that it belonged to a "Maycock" family which travelled to Australian from Southampton UK.
