A remarkable example of a vintage Circa 1940’s Jaeger LeCoultre bumper wind.

This is a very rare and exceptional example of Jaeger LeCoultre’s Military Bumper.  One of the first automatic winding watch, Calibre 476 also known as the 12A. This vintage watch was introduced in 1946 and used a bumper wind, which involves two springs that push a weight back/forth as you move your hand. Later automatic watch movements used a spinning rotor that spun when you moved your hand. Bumper wind automatics are very efficient and reliable movements and you can feel the automatic weight move back-and-forth with each wind.

This watch in extraordinary condition. With its beautifully aged black dial, printed white outer minutes scale, applied luminous Arabic numerals and pristine case, this watch is a rare find, its runs as it should and looks simply fantastic on the wrist.
